Ahead of Saturday's Durban July, Gallop TV aired its popular Gallop Preview Show on their YouTube channel, in which a star-studded panel provided their thoughts on the big race.
Host Alistair Cohen was joined on the panel by regular analyst Anthony Delpech, a multiple Durban July-winning jockey. Justin Snaith, who saddles five runners in this year's main event, also took his place on the sofa alongside another legendary South African trainer, Mike de Kock.
A new face on the panel this year was jockey Craig Zackey. Zackey partnered The Real Prince to victory over Eight On Eighteen 12 months ago and will ride Viva's Liberte for Candice Bass in Saturday's main event.
The panel discussed all 18 runners in the 2026 Durban July before giving their selections for the big race. Craig Zackey came down on the side of Note To Self, with Wish List expected to provide the biggest threat to her stablemate. Delpech also preferred Note To Self over Wish List, while giving special mentions to Viva's Liberte and Isivivane at much bigger prices.
Snaith refused to single out one of his five runners but seemed confident that the real Note To Self would turn up on Saturday. He also spoke positively about Wish List and believed Regulation had a huge chance under a featherweight. De Kock agreed with his great rival, suggesting that Snaith's leading trio could fill the first three places, before identifying Aladdin's Lamp as a dangerous outsider from his own yard.
At the end of the video, the panel were shown the 1-2-3-4 selections from a wide range of top tipsters and racing analysts. The preview was filmed hours before Star Major was withdrawn from the contest, and he was the most popular selection among the tipsters. Note To Self and Wish List also featured prominently, while several experts sided with Zeitz and Mocha Blend to come out on top.
