2026 Durban July Entries
See It Again will return to Greyville for his third crack at the Durban July this year. This six-year-old gelding was beaten twice in the race for Mike Roberts, but had taken his form to a new level since moving to Justin Snaith's yard, and heads into the July having won the Cape Town Met and the Premier's Champions Challenge.
Eight On Eighteen dominated the market heading into last year's Durban July. Justin Snaith's "Horse Of The Year" was expected to claim an easy victory, but the short-priced favourite was turned over by The Real Prince, who claimed a shock victory.
The Real Prince proved that victory was no fluke by winning the L'Ormarins King's Plate at Kenilworth in January, before a third-place finish in the Cape Town Met. Despite finishing down the field in both the King's Plate and the Met, Eight On Eighteen still sits prominently in the HDJ betting, and will try to bounce back to winning ways in the Dolphins Cup Trial.

The leading three-year-old in this year's July is Justin Snaith's Note To Self, who finished second to the filly, Wish List in the 2026 Cape Derby before a narrow defeat behind Okavango and Eight On Eighteen in a conditions race at Greyville in April. Justin Snaith's filly, Wish List could also head to Greyville for the July, and can be backed at a tempting price with Hollywoodbets.
Trust beat another talented three-year-old, Jan Van Goyen at Grade Two level in November, before a narrow loss to Grand Empire in the SA Classic at Turffontein. Regulation strung together some decent results at Kenilworth over the winter. Tony Peter's The Ultimate King has been running well over nine furlongs, and could appreciate the step up in trip.
Progressive three-year-old Splittheeights could represent Mike and Mathew de Kock. Having lost out to that rival in the Guateng Guineas, Grand Empire then beat Splittheeights and Trust in the SA Classic, and he too could be July bound.
Mocha Blend could be heading to Greyville, following her victory over Olivia's Way in the Summer Cup. Other names to note include Corne Spies' prolific filly Hazy Dazy, King's Cup winner Okavango, Cape Guineas hero Jan Van Goyen, and Horse Chestnut Stakes winner Tin Pan Alley.
