Rainbow Bridge holds the number one spot in the opening log for the 2021 Durban July.
Eric Sands six-year-old could only finish sixth in last year's Durban July, which was won well by favourite Belgarion. However, after defeating both Belgarion and Do It Again in the Sun Met, Rainbow Bridge jumped to the head of the ratings in South Africa and he occupies the top spot in the opening VDJ log.
Belgarion and two-time Durban July winner, Do It Again occupy the fifth and sixth positions. Last year's fourth, Golden Ducat had sat seventh in the log, but he was scratched from the race by Justin Snaith this week.
Kommetdieding, Netta and Russian Rock look guaranteed a run in the 2021 Durban July, as they sit inside the top ten in the current log. After finishing third behind Do It Again in last weekend's Pinnacle Stakes, Sovereign Spirit jumps up to eleventh.
Only 18 runners will be allowed to enter the 2021 Durban July. Those who occupy the 19th and 20th places on the final log will travel to Greyville as reserves.
